Solo, but accompanied by several objects that produce sounds, with which he tries to create a sound universe that reflects his musical imagination, André Fernandes presents himself in this challenging format with some things prepared and others created at the moment. It can be a meditative trip, or a turbulent one, and who knows, both. But it will always be him.
A musician with an internationally recognized career, he has collaborated throughout his career with musicians such as Lee Konitz, Mário Laginha, Chris Cheek, Maria João, Cyro Baptista, Ohad Talmor, Tomasz Stanko, Bernardo Sassetti, Dan Weiss, Bill McHenry, Jim Black, Perico Sambeat, Jeff Ballard, Julian Arguelles, David Binney, Avishai Cohen, João Paulo Esteves da Silva, among countless others in the jazz area. He was a member of Lee Konitz New Nonet, the groups of Maria João, Perico Sambeat, Mário Laginha, among others.
He has released 12 albums under his own name and participated in more than forty albums as a sideman. He was elected jazz musician of the year by the newspaper Público, received the RTP/Festa do Jazz award and was on the cover of Jazz.pt magazine. His album Dianho also received the Play award for jazz album of the year.
Although more active in jazz music, Fernandes is not only prolific as a musician and composer, but also as a producer, in areas ranging from electronic music, to hip-hop or rock.
